How to Host Your Own Talk Show

How to Host Your Own Talk Show

Learning how to host your own talk show can help you in more ways than you might think. For instance, if you are a business owner or expert on a particular subject, a talk show could increase your business by providing a venue for interested listeners to hear your message. Whether you are trying to drum up business, promote your latest book, gain exposure to a wider audience or simply feel you can host a show that will benefit or entertain, learn how to host your own talk show. There are five steps to follow when preparing to host your own talk show.
  1. Research the niche market you are trying to serve. Know the area's demographics and read market research reports to get an idea of the age, income, political leanings, religion and even spending habits of potential listeners.
  2. Develop programming that will appeal to an audience. Blend your area of expertise with the type of information that lends itself to a talk show. From local news happenings or a book club program to agricultural-themed segments, the program's focus and format should be clearly outlined.
  3. Purchase air time, either at your local radio or TV station or sign up for an online podcast service. Public access television is another cost-free option for those living in the community the channel serves, although no advertising is allowed when you take such an approach.
  4. Make the show. Whether you tape a television talks show and air it later or go live on the Internet, do your first several shows, complete with theme music, credits and interesting delivery. Talk show hosts must carry the program with their outgoing personality and ability to interview guests and get to the heart of any issue.
  5. Drum up advertising. Unless you are on a public access station, look for sponsors or sell ad time during the show. Look to businesses that are in some way connected to your show's theme, as that gives the business incentive to purchase air time. Don't hesitate to spend some time and money on advertising on behalf of the talk show as well.

Zuckerberg phones Obama, ‘frustrated’ by NSA’s extensive spying

Zuckerberg phones Obama, ‘frustrated’ by NSA’s extensive spying

    DIGITAL TRENDS
MEMPHIS TN (IFS) -- It was not that long ago that Facebook froze the account of KDTN Radio One for a period of two (2) months.  CEO and President Kenneth Howard Smith of SDC OmniMedia Group had written a personal letter to Mark Zuckerberg, and he has yet to response with any answer as to why KDTN Radio One was locked out of its site for such a long period of time.   Smith was only to happy to hear that Zuckerberg had to call President Obama and attempt to complain about the NSA.  I'm sure his call just fell upon deaf ears.  So with tears in his eyes and his little phone, Zuckerberg cries on the phone to the White House for help.  I am sure he found out very quickly, that his crying can not get the President to listen to him or his stories.  I am sure Zuckerberg has to grow up and get with it.  He sees that what comes around - goes around -- quickly.  The same way Zuckerberg does his business mail with Facebook and his ignoring of a real serious concern about a press member's broadcasting services and access to its' members.  Todate, no communication with Facebook has been received.  It goes to prove that the Facebook organization is only in it for the quick money and could care less about the long term of its' product and it's members.. - KHS
Facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg called President Obama to express his frustrations and concerns, following an alarming report that the NSA has been apeing his company’s servers to install malware on other computers.
“I've called President Obama to express my frustration over the damage the government is creating for all of our future,” Zuckerberg wrote on his Facebook wall Thursday. “Unfortunately, it seems like it will take a very long time for true full reform.”
On Wednesday, Glenn Grenwald wrote on newly news site The Intercept of the NSA’s efforts to dramatically expand its program of mass hacking, citing classified files provided by whistleblower Edward Snowden. The documents call out a program called QUANTUMHAND, which was launched on a wide scale in 2010 and masquerades as a Facebook server to act as a “launching pad” for malware that infects computers and sneaks files from their hard drives.
'I've called President Obama to express my frustration over the damage the government is creating for all of our future.'
- Mark Zuckerberg
The report was only the latest in a months-long leak of secret programs from the NSA -- but clearly one Zuckerberg took personally.
“We encourage people to use multiple factors for authentication and we go out of our way to help fix issues we find in other people's services. The Internet works because most people and companies do the same,” he wrote.

“This is why I've been so confused and frustrated by the repeated reports of the behavior of the U.S. government. When our engineers work tirelessly to improve security, we imagine we're protecting you against criminals, not our own government.”
The government program cited in the latest leak reportedly began as a way to hit hard-to-reach targets around a decade ago. The spy agency’s malware-spreading efforts have since proliferated to potentially millions of computers around the globe -- part of what the NSA documents call its “Owning the Net” program.
“The U.S. government should be the champion for the Internet, not a threat. They need to be much more transparent about what they're doing, or otherwise people will believe the worst,” Zuckerberg said.
