Join us for our 2022 Conference

In sunny Cairns! 

The CBAA is thrilled to bring to you our 2021 conference in 2022! the conference will be held in sunny Carin's over three jam-packed days, 24-26 March 2022. The conference will go ahead as scheduled in accordance with state regulations. The conference will be the first face-to-face industry event since 2019 so we hope to see you all there! We will provide updates on the event as the date draws nearer, and will be sure to keep you informed on any changes if they arise. Register today ​​​​​

Bucketts Radio Fundraiser

Raise The Buckett

The 'Raise the Bucketts' fundraiser, aims to raise funds required for a new transmission tower on Kia Ora Hill. The new tower will allow the station to increase its reach and grow its listenership, volunteer base, and sponsorship opportunities, allowing them to better serve the community.The Raise the Tower will be held on Saturday, February 12 at the Gloucester Country Club. Find out more.

Birak concert is back

Perths Birak Concert celebrates Aboriginal and Torres Strait Island cultures. This year’s line-up features WA talent, including a traditional Welcome to Country, Lilly Gogos, Flewnt, Pipeline Band, and more! If you're unable to attend in person, the event will be broadcast by NoongarRadio so be sure to tune in! Find out more how you can be involved.

Free accredited courses

The CMTO is offering a fully subsided course for staff and volunteers who are active members of a station looking for the chance to work with peers and mentors to build leadership skills and boost community engagement. What's Happening in Community Radio?
The Board of PositiveMedia (89.9 TheLight) has appointed Clayton Bjelan as Interim CEO following the recent resignation of Jarrod Graetz. Clayton will lead the organisation while the Board undertakes the recruitment process for the new CEO. 3ZZZ has a new anthology podcast series, Stories of Community Resilience to showcase real stories of how multicultural communities are supporting each other throughout the coronavirus pandemic.

Meet the CBAA
In this edition of our newsletter we say farewell to Mitch. Mitch has been a part of the Amrap team,  as the Amrap Support Officer since 2018, if you've ever needed assistance with Amrap chances are you've spoken to Mitch. We wish him all the best with his next endeavour and thank him for his hard work and dedication during his time with the CBAA. We are also welcoming two new members of the CBBA team. A very warm welcome to Joshua Kreusler who will be joining the Amrap Team, and Jeremy Graham has is joined the CBAA's Digital Research Project team. Keep an eye out for Josh and Jeremy's staff profiles in the coming edition's of the newsletter.

 MP Jane Kelsbie presents station manager, Matt Sivyer with grantDenmarkFM receives $46,953 Lotterywest grant to help fund a backup power system and new radio equipment for the station. 
 The CMTO is celebrating graduates of their Community Journalism Training Project  Two graduates from the online course have gone on to produce stories for The Wire under the supervision of the program’s Executive Producers Eduardo Jordan (4EB) and Rod Chambers (2SER) and support from the CMTO.
